Beat and Rhythm

This week we learnt what the difference is between a beat and a rhythm. The beat is like the ticking of a clock, it stays the same throughout the song. It is also the timing of the song.

The rhythm is the sound of the notes being played. The rhythm is constantly changing. In a song it could also be the same as the words the singer is singing.

 I really enjoyed learning about this because I always thought that the bet and the rhythm were very similar but i have learnt that they are in fact very different.

 i would like to learn more about how the beat could change in a song.

Grouping This week we learnt about grouping. We had already learnt the basics last year so we learnt more about the more advanced rules of grouping. I am personally not a big fan of grouping as sometimes it can be very challenging. So i will keep practicing and working hard to try and get better.   I look forward to doing more practice so i can become better and maybe start to enjoy it more.

Creating Instruments This week during the first lesson of the week, we learnt about how to create our own African instruments. My group was given the membranephones so my partner and I created a miniature version of an African drum. I really enjoyed this as it was a fun creative activity. I look forward to doing more fun and creative lessons in the future.
